Welcome to the
2010 Charolais World
Congress hosted by the
American International
Charolais Association!
We ’ re looking forward to
seeing you in the heart of
the United States.
The tour will begin in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma, which is the capital city of the state.
Oklahoma City is located very close to the middle of
the United States. Oklahoma is a leader in production
of beef cattle and other
agriculture products, especially
wheat which will be
almost ready for harvest
during your stay.
Make your plans to fly in
to Oklahoma City to arrive
on Thursday, May 13 so
you can relax before we
start our 8-day tour.
On
Friday evening we’ll have real western Welcome
Party at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage
Museum. This world-renowned museum features a
collection of classic and contemporary
western art and will be a
beautiful setting for the evening.
On Saturday morning we will
check out of the hotel and
depart to M&M Charolais, Perry,
Oklahoma where they will host
us for a brunch and a tour of
their ranch.
Then we will drive south toward Texas, and
make a stop in Marietta, Oklahoma at Brooks
Ranch where some Oklahoma breeders will have
cattle on display. Then we’ll cross the state line
into Texas, known as the “Lone Star State” for dinner
at Lehman Charolais located near Tioga, Texas.
Then it’s on to Fort Worth, Texas also known as
the “City of Cowboys and Culture.” The city has
maintained his rich western heritage and you will
experience its essence of the traditions from the
early days of trail drives and learn more about
“How the West was Won”.
On Sunday morning we’ll let you catch up on
some rest and late in the morning we’ll take a
short drive to Marti Charolais, near Cleburne,
Texas. Here we will have a authentic “chuckwagon
lunch” and you’ll see an exhibition of Full French
Charolais cattle. If you brought your spouse or
some family who would like to stay in Fort Worth
and enjoy shopping or seeing the magnificent
museums, then we’ll have a separate tour for
them during this time.
We’ll head back to Fort Worth in time to enjoy
the Fort Worth Stockyards which is one of the leading
attractions in the city. You’ll get to see a lot of
history from
when the cattle
were
brought to the
Stockyards
and sold at
auction.
We’ll have a party and dinner
at Billy Bob’s Texas - “The
World’s Largest Honky Tonk”.

On Monday we will travel 600 miles (965 km) but
don’t worry we’ll take you by airplane to
Harlingen, Texas. This region is referred to as “The
Valley” and this is where many fruits and vegetables
are grown
and a major part
of the agriculture
industry in Texas.
It’s also home to
many cattle
ranches including
Thomas
Charolais. This family owned operation will give us
a tour of the ranch and serve us lunch. From their
ranch at Raymondville, we’ll drive to Kingsville,
home of the world famous King Ranch. There are
825,000 acres (over 333 866 hectares) in this
ranch and it offers an incredible history of cattle
and horses in the U.S.
That evening we’ll drive in to Corpus
Christi where our hotel sits on Corpus
Christi Bay which leads into the waters of
the Gulf of Mexico.
A casual reception
and dinner will be
hosted for you and
then you can take a
long stroll along the
waterfront before
retiring for the
evening.
Tuesday morning
will be a drive to
Gonzales, Texas, and
a visit to Graham
Feedyard where they feed 30,000 head of cattle.
Lunch, tours and a discussion on branded beef in
the U.S., plus much more, will be on the agenda.
Then it will be time for a visit to the Shiner
Brewery which is the oldest independent brewery
in Texas. After enjoying a few beverages and a
tour, it’s time to head to San Antonio.
This city is known for its beautiful “Riverwalk”
in the heart of downtown. We ’ re going to give you
time to enjoy this city with a very laid back schedule
on Wednesday. Just a quick general membership
in the
morning and
then it’s an
afternoon of
relaxing. Late
in the day
we’ll have
an embryo
auction at the hotel and then dinner on the boats
on the River. This is will be a unique experience for
everyone!
Thursday is an optional day for you to travel to
the Hill Country of Texas. It’s about an hour to the
town of Fredericksburg which is a city that was
founded by German immigrants. It’s a delightful
town with a Main Street full of shops and antiques
that can be enjoyed by everyone.
We will get back to San Antonio in time to get
rested and prepare for the evening event which will
include dinner, awards and dancing to celebrate
your time in the U.S.
